New Year’s Resolutions for Elodie 2020

Money

Will I track holiday sales?

  • Objective: I will track holiday sales, markdowns, coupons, and cashback throughout the year. I will record them in panda blog.
  • Risks:
    • Missed Time frame: Sales opportunities may be missed.
      • Risk Mitigation: I will make a list of yearly major sales. Creating calendar alerts will give me an effective scheduling of what will be coming. I will be a social media butterfly on Facebook and Instagram in order to get a preview of potential upcoming coupons based on the previous year. (Accuracy may vary)
    • Missed a store: I may forget to track a store.
      • Risk Mitigation: I am going to list the stores we usually purchase from including the occasional ones such as bodybuilding.com and lucky vitamin.
    • Missed an item: I may forget about purchasing one specific item.
      • Risk Mitigation: I will make a list of must have products with bookmarks. A list of alternative items will be also beneficial in the event of no availability.
  • Progress: The number of blog posts and updates will measure my progress.

Health

Will I follow my workout routine throughout the year?

  • Objective: I will deadlift and stretch 3 times a week to maintain my strength and prevent age-related muscle shrinkage and bone loss. I will continue checking my weight every morning to ensure my body fat stays under 30%. I will add a multivitamin to supplement my diet.
  • Risks:
    • Focus: I may strain if I do not focus while lifting. I tend to lose focus quickly even with the help of music.
      • Risk Mitigation: My concentration does not last very long. I will finish my workout within 30 minutes before I lose focus.
    • Drive : I tend to skip stretching because it takes time to see results. All energy and motivation go to heavy lifting.
      • Risk Mitigation: I will focus on completing the stretching routine rather than getting immediate results. I will set my bar low.
    • Memory: I always forget to take a vitamin pill.
      • Risk Mitigation:  A daily morning reminder has been set up on my phone.
  • Progress: The lazy sets weight should increase from 70kg. Flexibility should make sex smoother.

Interests

Will I improve my Japanese this year?

  • Objective: I will improve my Japanese. I will complete my text book to increase my vocabulary and continuously watch Japanese Anime to improve my listening skills.
  • Risks:
    • Disinterest: I will feel disappointed because I will not see tangible progress immediately. I may drop learning.
      • Risk Mitigation: I will take only 2 consecutive lessons and incorporate the new words into our daily conversation.
    • Finish anime: I may run out of content.
      • Risk Mitigation: New anime series are constantly available. I can watch my favorite anime repeatedly. I can also watch Tver or other TV shows from nyaa.
    • Forget: I will forget what I learned.
      • Risk Mitigation: I will use self-talk. I will keep mixing Japanese and English in my daily conversation to avoid memory loss.
  • Progress:  My progress will be measured by the level of understanding when I watch content without Japanese subs and when I talk to Nao.

Will I finish the games on my list?

    • Objective: I will finish Final Fantasy XV, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age.
    • Risks:
        • Difficulty Level: I enjoy the main story rather than spending time to level up. The boss may be unbeatable because my level is too low.
          • Risk Mitigation: I will play easy mode and use the cheats as needed.
        • Interminable: Social simulation games never end.
          • Risk Mitigation: I will set my own goals for this type of games. I decide when the game ends.
  • Progress: PS4 provides game progress. It is unknown for switch at this time.

Will I make more clothes this year?

    • Objective: I will make 2 pajama shirts. I will add baby clothes if baby is on the way,
    • Risks:
      • Material Risk: Material inventory may decrease quickly.
        • Risk Mitigation: Nao will get free XL t-shirts from conferences. I will buy STOF France Stretch Jersey Knit on Amazon.
      • Rushing: When I need it immediately, I tend to rush, which often leads to making mistakes.
        • Risk Mitigation: I will take my time to complete.
      • Failure: The final product is potentially unwearable.
        • Risk Mitigation: I will make a paper template. The product should match my expectation.
    • Progress:  The amounts of new clothing will increase as I replace old ones.

Will I keep reading books?

Objective: I will finish the 10 books in my backlog first. I will download more after I finish them.

  • Risks:
    • Time constraint: I only read at night in bed. I tend to sleep right a way if I go to bed too late.
      • Risk Mitigation: I will finish my chores by 9 pm.
    • Kindle Problems: Some PDF and EPUB do not fit well on the Kindle.
      • Risk Mitigation: I will use my phone to read in bed. Nao’s tablet can be used as well.
    • Content: The book can be boring, misleading, or simply too hard to read.
      • Risk Mitigation: I will stop reading if the book is not interesting and move on to something else.
  • Progress:  My backlog should shrink as I read.

Will I add recipes this year?

Objective: I will add Opera to my sweet varieties. I will also explore new Chinese recipes.

  • Risks:
    • Preference: Nao may not like it.
      • Risk Mitigation: We will come to an agreement before deciding which recipe to attempt.
    • Time consuming: The final product can turn out great; however, the time spent can be unreasonable.
      • Risk Mitigation: I will pick an appropriate day and start early in the morning. The recipe will be only for special occasions.
  • Progress: I will see new foods in our rotation.
